No visit to London would be complete without a visit to the City of London. This famous historic square mile is like a phoenix. It has survived fires, plaques, wars and developments. To stroll along its streets and back alleys is to encounter the history of about 2000 years. This walk is a great introduction to the City. Listen to the tales about the Romans, the Great Fire, coffee houses, historic churches and pubs. Learn about the origins of London’s famous landmarks; from St Paul’s Cathedral to the Gherkin, Lloyd’s of London and the Bank of England. You will often be asked to look up or look down, as the walk also focuses on the hidden and unexpected. You will find out that a church tower that you can see in the middle of a street is someone’s home and you will stand just feet above the remains of the Roman Amphitheatre. The walk starts outside Monument underground station and finishes on top of One New Change with picturesque views over London.
